About Us

Capturing All Chess Tournaments in Kenya

Kenya Chess Hub is more than a platform, it is a community-owned engine designed to transform the 64 squares across our nation. Inspired by the rapid rise of chess powerhouses like India, we are building an open-source ecosystem where every player is a contributor, and every county has a voice.

“Chess is life in miniature. Chess is struggle, chess is battles.”

Garry Kasparov

Our Vision

To transform Kenya into a premier global chess powerhouse where every player is connected, every talent is nurtured, and the game is a national heartbeat.

Our Mission

To bridge the gap between every chess board in the country by building a unified digital and social ecosystem that empowers Kenyan players through competition, community, and collaboration.

Our Objectives

Unify the Ranks

Create a single, vibrant network connecting players from grassroots clubs to Grandmasters.

Ignite Competition

Amplify the nationwide calendar of events that make high-level play accessible in every county.

Fuel Growth

Leverage data and digital platforms to track rankings, share resources, and accelerate player development.

Celebrate the Game

Elevate the profile of Kenyan chess to attract mainstream partners and global recognition.

The "Wiki" Model: An Open-Source Legacy

We believe that the knowledge of the Kenyan chess community should be open- source. Just as Wikipedia belongs to the world, Kenya Chess Hub belongs to you.

  •  Community-Led Knowledge: We are building a public library of Kenyan chess history, player biographies, and tactical analysis where any player can
    contribute.
  • Collaborative Training: Following the blueprint of the world’s youngest Grandmasters, we provide open-access training resources—from endgame
mastery to engine analysis—ensuring that geography is never a barrier to greatness.

The Hub Council: 47 Counties, One Board

To ensure every corner of Kenya is represented, the Hub is guided by a Council of
Representatives.

  • Decentralised Leadership: Representatives from different counties ensure that local talent is spotted and regional challenges are addressed.
  •  Collective Growth: We move away from playing in "silos" and move toward a culture where we build each other up—because a stronger rival makes for a stronger champion.

The "Grandmaster" Promise

In 1988, India had zero Grandmasters. Today, they are a global titan. They did it through community, structured training, and radical collaboration. Kenya Chess Hub is the vehicle that will carry our first Grandmaster to the world stage.
One Board. One Nation. One Hub. We aren't asking for a seat at the table; we are building the table. Whether you have 5 minutes to share a move or 5 hours to write a code, you are an architect of Kenyan Chess. This is how India did it—by making the game everyone's business.

How You Can Contribute: Build the Hub with Us

Kenya Chess Hub is a "Public Good." It only succeeds if the community fuels it. You don’t need to be a Grandmaster to help—you just need to be a part of the movement. Choose your path:

1. For the Historians & Storytellers (The “Wiki” Crew)

  • Document Local Legends: Write a short biography of a player or coach in your county who has impacted the game. Help us ensure their legacy is never
    forgotten.
  • Club Archives: Does your school or town have a chess club? Send us its history, founding date, and photos. We are mapping every board in the 254.
  • Tournament Records: Help us digitise old tournament results from years past to build a comprehensive history of Kenyan competitive play.

2. For the Players & Strategists (The “Knowledge” Crew)

  • Submit Your Games: Send us your most interesting PGNs (game files). Our team and the community will analyse them, turning your matches into lessons for others.
  •  Share a “Secret” Move: Found a killer tactic in an obscure opening? Record a 60-second clip or write a post. We will feature it in our “Community Tactics” library.
  •  Mentorship: If you are a high-rated player, volunteer 1 hour a month for a “Hub Live Session” on YouTube to answer questions from beginners.

3. For the Techies & Creatives (The “Infrastructure” Crew)

  • Open-Source Development: If you are a builder, reach out to us and collaborate in building and improving our website. We welcome your support in developing features such as national leaderboards, Elo calculators, and tournament management tools.
  •  Content Creation: Are you good at video editing or graphic design? Help us make our match analyses and Instagram posts look world-class.
  • Translation: Help us translate basic chess tutorials into Sheng or local languages to make the game accessible to every child in every village.

4. For the Organizers (The “Council” Crew)

  • Represent Your County: Apply to join the Hub Council. Be the bridge between the national Hub and the players on the ground in your region.
  • Host a “Hub Meetup”: Organise a casual chess meet at a local cafe or park and tag @KenyaChessHub. We will use our platform to help you find players in your area.

Why Contribute?

When you contribute to Kenya Chess Hub, you do it because:

1.Visibility: Your name is attached to the knowledge you share, building your reputation in the community.
2. Growth: By teaching others, you master the game yourself.
3. Patriotism: You are directly helping produce the first Kenyan Grandmaster.
